Family visits for Palestinian terrorists from Judea and Samaria held in Israeli jails are to be reduced from two to one a month from July, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed Wednesday.
The ICRC, which has facilitated family visits to Palestinian prisoners for decades, said the measure was being enforced by budget cuts and a need to make efficiency savings in the cost of busing families to and from prisons in sovereign Israel.
It said women prisoners and minors would not be affected by the cuts, while families from Gaza would also be exempt.
Some 200 Palestinian Arabs demonstrated against the move outside ICRC headquarters in eastern Jerusalem on Tuesday.
The Palestinian Authority's (PA) Palestinian Prisoners Club called on the ICRC to reverse its decision.
Some 7,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli jails, the great majority of them men.
Just this April a report by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) revealed how the PA is fooling Western donor states by continuing to channel funds from its annual $1 billion in foreign donations to the salaries of jailed terrorists.
In response to the report Norway grilled PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas over the terror funding, and the US and several EU countries cancelled their PA funding - even as France continued blithely donating.
