The Lod District Court confirmed on Sunday afternoon the administrative order against right-wing activist Meir Ettinger, ruling he be remanded to custody for six months as per Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon's initial order.
In addition to confirming the administrative arrest, Judge Avraham Tal ruled that a hearing will be held in two months on the subject.
Attorney Yuval Zemer of the legal aid Honenu organization, who is representing Ettinger said he will examine the ruling and will likely file an appeal with the Supreme Court.
"As we expected, the court approved the request for administrative detention, and surrendered to a collection of information and drafts presented by the Israel Security Agency and police," Zemer noted.
"I can't say I'm surprised that a court in Israel didn't reject the request for an administrative detention order," he stated, adding, however, that he was very upset by the decision.
"From the first reading, despite a significant portion of our claims being received, and despite the fact that Mr. Ettinger was never involved in a violent incident and didn't violate previously imposed orders, legal maneuvers were set up to keep him in custody."
"As we've said before, this is a political arrest intended to placate public opinion in Israel and abroad," Zemer stressed. "It was not an arrest based on legal reasoning - anyone, like me, who reads this decision and is exposed to the materials knows there is no legal justification for this arrest."
At a previous hearing held last week, Ettinger, the grandson of Rabbi Meir Kahane, delivered a speech in which he expressed his ideological views and noted that he has no confidence in a court who does not act according to the laws of the Torah.
