The International Institute for Counter-Terrorism’s (ICT) 15th International Conference: World Summit on Counter-Terrorism, which addresses the terrorism challenges currently faced by the international community, was held this week in Herzliya.
To gain perspective on the current situation with Hamas in that regard, Arutz Sheva spoke with Brigadier General (Res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, former Director General of the Ministry of Strategic Affairs.
"I think that while we are committed to take care of, to help take care of, humanitarian difficulties in the Gaza Strip, we also have to make sure that when we take care of those concerns, we don't do things that are going to be counterproductive when it comes to the security of Israel," Kuperwasser stated.
"What we see today is that the cement that is being brought in is being used for building new tunnels that would enable Hamas to carry out attacks against Israelis, and that again and again all kinds of weapons are being found in the merchandise that's coming into Gaza - for example the diving suits and detonators [...] so we know that Hamas is taking advantage of Israel's attitude."
"We should be very careful," he added.
