This is book one of a trilogy composed of fact and fiction about our great sage Rashi, and particularly about his three daughters Johevet, Miriam and Rachel.
The author, Mary Anton, has studied the Talmud extensively and in the first book, staring Johevet, she gives us her view of the life and times of Rashi. It is in part conjecture, derived from the style and language of Rashi's commentary on the Talmud.
