The fish population in the Mediterranean Sea is dwindling, an activist told Arutz Sheva this week - and the Society for Protection of Nature in Israel is making three demands on the fishing industry to reverse the phenomenon.
"The Mediterranean fisheries are in total collapse because of mismanagement," Alon Rothschild, representative from the group, stated. "The major problem is the trawling boats, like we see right near us."
SPNI demands three changes to the fishing industry: taking out the sweeping trawler vessels, introducing bag limits for sport fishermen, and dedicating "No Fishing" months for breeding and rehabilitation.
'It just takes some leadership and a very small budget," Rothschild noted.
