The Central Elections Committee (CEC) issued a temporary ban Monday night on Likud's distribution of a tape featuring Moshe Kahlon's voice.
In the tape, recorded by the former Likud minister and current Kulanu Chairman during Israel's previous general elections, Kahlon puts his support behind Likud and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
The Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Salim Joubran, ordered Likud to stop distributing the recording after Kulanu filed a petition against the party.
"We are pleased that Judge Joubran stopped the Likud from continuing to spread this misleading recording," Kulanu responded to the order.
"Despite the great pressure they are in," the centrist party continued, in an apparent jibe at Likud's chances of victory, "We call on the Likud party to issue a clarification immediately."
"This is a criminal act," Kahlon's party said of the recording earlier on Monday afternoon. "The Kulanu party calls on the people of Israel this evening to go out tomorrow and vote for Kulanu - the only social and national party in Israel."
"It is sad that Likud, in a moment of desperation, chose to mislead the public. Kulanu turns to enforcement bodies to handle this case."
Likud, for its part, has yet to respond to the Central Elections Committee's order.
