Yesh Atid MK Rabbi Shai Piron uploaded a controversial “gay marriage” video to his Facebook page last week, but has since deleted it.
The video, which was produced as part of the party's election campaign, featured a baby's-eye view of different pairs of parents leaning over a crib. Some of the pairs were heterosexual, and others same-sex. The video ended with Piron saying: “for him and for us, it doesn't matter who and what his parents are. A family is a family.”
The video was uploaded just before Israel's Family Day. Less than a week later, however, it was deleted and access to it on Youtube has been blocked.
In response to a query by Arutz Sheva, Yesh Atid said: “The Yesh Atid party uploaded a video especially for Family Day and today, it uploaded new videos. All of the videos are accessible on Whatsapp.” The video was only uploaded to Facebook as “a teaser,” it added.
However, other videos similarly uploaded to Piron's Facebook have not been removed.
Family Day is marked on the 30th day of Shvat – the date on which Zionist pioneer Henrietta Szold died. It was originally called Mothers' Day – but 20 or 30 years ago, feminist influence dictated that the maternal theme be discarded. Instead, Family Day celebrates a variety of families, with an emphasis on one-parent families and same-sex couples.
Celebrations of womanhood have been transferred to Women's Day, on March 8 – originally Female Worker's Day – a communist holiday instituted in the Soviet Union under Vladimir Lenin.
Piron recently caused a stir in religious Zionist circles when he posed in skinny jeans for Makor Rishon.
