During a briefing about Palestinian Authority (PA) incitement on Sunday, Intelligence Affairs Minister Dr. Yuval Steinitz and the Director General of his ministry, Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Yossi Kuperwasser demonstrated how Nazi leader Adolf Hitler is a central figure in the PA school curriculum.

In response, MK Yoni Chetboun has questioned the viability of reaching a real peace agreement with the Palestinian Authority. In a statement, the Jewish Home MK asked: "how do (Justice Minister) Tzipi Livni and (Labor Chairman Yitzhak) Herzog expect to make peace with an organization that venerates Adolf Hitler?"

The lionization of Nazism within Palestinian Authority-controlled areas has been long documented. In a recent interview a Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) official in December was very clear about Arab support for the Nazis during World War II.

“How can the Left seriously contend that the Palestinians are ready to make peace? How can the US Administration?" continued Chetboun. "When the TV programming is irresistibly aimed at  children and overwhelmingly projects a message of the disappearance of Israel and the Jewish People, why on earth are we continuing negotiations with the very institution that is poisoning their own children with vicious propaganda?”

Chetboun, a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and Education Committee, also took aim at the foreign funding which enables PA incitement.

“It is clear that international bodies, including the US and the EU, not to mention countless NGOs, have been directly enabling this incitement for decades," stated Chetboun. "It is further proof that their meddling in our region remains seriously misguided and deeply flawed.”

“I call on the relevant bodies, including the (American) Congress, individual member states of the EU, and the European Commission, to suspend and review immediately the aid that they send to the PA, and call on them to condition such aid on transparency, accountability and immediate cessation of all such hateful expressions of incitement and anti-Semitism," declared Chetboun.

The MK emphasized how this incitement and education of hate renders peace talks meaningless.

“Peace will be achieved, not through ignoring the harsh reality of what the next generation is being taught, but rather making sure that the next generation are presented with an alternative that does not dehumanize the other," Chetboun concluded.
