An Israeli bus driver was injured Tuesday evening when Palestinian Arab attackers hurled stones at his bus as he drove in Samaria (Shomron).
The driver suffered a head injury in the attack, which took place on the road between Alei Zahav and Oranit.
Despite his injury he managed to drive to the nearest checkpoint to seek help. Paramedics gave him initial treatment at the scene, then evacuated him to hospital in light condition.
At least four other vehicles came under attack as well. IDF forces are searching the area.
Earlier Tuesday MK Orit Struk (Jewish Home) expressed frustration over the government’s failure to transfer funds for a program to help Israelis in Judea and Samaria reinforce their vehicles. The program aims to provide extra protection against potentially deadly rock and firebomb attacks.
Petty politicking has prevented the budget transfer, she accused. Struk cited the disagreement between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid over the appointment of the next head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, explaining that Lapid’s insistence that Netanyahu appoint a member of his party – MK Ofer Shelah – to head the committee has led to a deadlock that means the budget cannot be moved forward.
