Naftali Bennett was the most looked-for political personality on Wikipedia’s Hebrew-language site in recent weeks, editors of the site have revealed. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Labor party head Shelly Yachimovich were in a distant second and third place, respectively.

Netanyahu and Hatnua head Tzipi Livni were the most searched in English.

Among parties, the most sought-out in Hebrew were the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party led by Bennett and the new party Eretz Hadasha, which describes itself as a “radical centrist” faction dedicated to fighting corruption and erasing the link between wealth and political clout.

On Friday, Wikipedia celebrated 12 years since its creation. Editors, volunteers and contributors in Israel held a party in Tel Aviv.

There are now Wikipedia entries in 285 languages. Roughly 484.49 million people visit the site each month.

Israelis look at a total of 64 million Wikipedia entries per month. There are 142,509 entries in Hebrew. A slim majority of Israelis – 50.7% – search the site in Hebrew. Another 34.4% read Wikipedia entries in English, 7.1% prefer Russian, and 3.6% prefer Arabic.
