A major prayer rally will be held Tuesday in Moscow, with thousands of Jews gathering to pray for the success of the IDF an the safety of all Israelis during Operation Pillar of Defense.
The prayer family comes after a letter was issued by Russia's Chief Rabbi, Berel Lazar, urging Jews in communities around the country to conduct prayers for Israel and for Israelis facing the onslaught of missiles fired almost daily by Gaza Arab terrorists. He also called on Jews to engage in good deeds and helping other positive behaviors.
Rabbi Lazar urged Jews around the country to join together in their own local houses of prayer if they could not reach Moscow. He also urged schools and yeshivot to participate in the community prayer service in their own towns.
The prayer rally is being organized by the Union of Russian Jewish Congregations, an umbrella group for Orthodox synagogues in the country.
