Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria have noticed an upswing in road terror attacks with the advance of Operation Pillar of Defense, and the increase of missile fire from Gaza.

The phenomenon of attacks on the roads of Judea, Samaria and outlying neighborhoods of Jerusalem by Palestinian Authority Arabs hurling rocks, firebombs (Molotov cocktails) and even at times firing gunshots at Israeli motorists has increased exponentially over the past several months.

With the start of the counter terrorism Operation Pillar of Defense against the Hamas terrorist rulers of Gaza, the attacks have increased still more. Several recent incidents in the Judea region in particular caused damage to vehicles traveling through the area. In one case, a woman was sent into traumatic shock when her vehicle came under a rock attack by Palestinian Authority road terrorists.

Readers who believe that young men hurling rocks cannot cause damage might consider the Biblical account of King David as a youth, who felled the mighty Goliath with nothing more than a rock and a sling.

PA Arab attackers use much the same approach, and have become lethal threats on the road to motorists as a result. Last year a Kiryat Arba resident and his baby son both died in a rock attack on Highway 60 in Judea.

Dozens of other Israeli motorists have come under attack and been wounded or had their vehicles damaged by PA Arabs hurling rocks as well.

The sharp-edged missiles smash windshields, damage tires, obstruct vision and distract drivers from continuing on the road.

The idea is to either directly injure or kill the driver and/or passengers, damage and disable the vehicle so that those inside are hurt or killed, or to slow down the vehicle enough to then attack those inside.

Numerous PA Arab road terrorists on roads in Judea, Samaria and in Jerusalem have already proved successful.
