For the second time in two days, IDF soldiers were able to foil a possible terror attack on Sunday night. The soldiers opened fire at a Palestinian Authority Arab suspect, as he was approaching the border with Israel from central Gaza.

After the suspect refused to heed calls to stop and continued to advance toward the border fence, the soldiers fired at him and he was hit. PA sources later said the man died, claiming he was unarmed and was mentally disturbed.

In a similar incident on Friday, IDF forces opened fire towards a PA Arab terrorist, as he was trying to plant explosives near the security fence in central Gaza.

The terrorist was seriously wounded and evacuated to a hospital in Gaza.

Friday’s incident came ten days after IDF soldier Ziv Shilon was seriously wounded during an operation in the Gaza area. Soldiers were engaged in counter-terror activity near the security barrier dividing Gaza from southern Israel, when Shilon was hurt.

An IDF investigation revealed that he was hit by a roadside bomb.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Gaza terrorists attacked Israel with their 611th rocket this year.

Sunday’s Qassam rocket struck in the early morning in the Western Negev and caused no physical injuries or damage. The daily trauma of children having to run for shelters, often in the middle of the night or while at nursery and other schools, is rarely reported.
