A Palestinian Authority driver killed a security guard near Sha'arei Tikva, in Samaria, after the victim tried to stop the vehicle Sunday morning. Police caught the driver after he fled the scene.
The hit-and-run attack occurred on Highway 505 near the community, located on the western edge of Samaria (Shomron) and five miles east of Tel Aviv.
Magen David Adom medics rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim in critical condition to Bellinson Hospital in Petach Tikva, where he later died.
The driver is suspected of having transported Palestinian Authority workers without a working permit.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the security guard tried to stop the vehicle and then was run over. Police are investigating the possibility
that the driver may have intentionally hit the security guard, but they lean towards the view that it was an accident.
