Asked why she chose to initiate a letter of support for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Iran policy just as the eviction at Migron took place, MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) explained that the Iranian threat is a much more important matter than Migron.
In an interview with Besheva magazine, MK Hotovely said: "Migron is one hilltop inside an entire settlement enterprise," whereas Iran is "the central event."
"The media agenda on Iran was very one-sided, one-dimensional and very false," she explained. "They tried to create a reality in which there are supposedly people who oppose the strike and others who support it, when in fact, when push comes to shove everyone says the same thing. Everyone wants to see the Iranian nuclear program cease to exist. The disagreement is over the way to achieve this."
"Those who support an attack think that Israel needs to keep all of its options open. The opponents essentially are saying that the Americans are the ones who should do the job, but everyone agrees that we cannot accept the existence of an Iranian nuclear umbrella."
"None of the journalists and artists, whose connection to intelligence information is purely coincidental, bothered to answer the question of what we are supposed to do if the Americans decide not to attack. In this reality, it was important to balance the picture."
"With this petition, I wanted to put the public debate back on track and to bring us back to the simplest words, of trust in the prime minister and in his ability to decide in these matters that are so critical for Israel's future. This may be the most important decision a prime minister has had to make in the last 20 years. It needs to be made under the minimal possible pressure."
