Arutz Sheva visited on Tuesday the Jewish National Fund’s booth at the Cleantech exhibition which opened at the Exhibition Grounds in Tel Aviv.
The booth shows how the JNF's activities in the field of water help enrich Israel’s economy by 260 million cubic meters of water. This water is collected drop by drop from floods in the Negev and Galilee and from sewage treatment facilities across the country.
The JNF is presenting during the Cleantech exhibition a series of projects and new collaborations aimed at promoting environmental protection, allowing a more informed way of dealing with the water problem in Israel and promoting international cooperation in environmental protection and water quality.
Avri Kadmon, Manager of the Information Unit at JNF's Development Enterprises Department, told Arutz Sheva that “JNF’s activities focused on the construction of reservoirs all over Israel. Until today we’ve constructed 222 reservoirs with a total capacity of about 160 million cubic meters.”
He said that the JNF’s work helped Israel during the recent drought and water crisis because “Israel was never in a position where there was not enough water for domestic consumption.”
Kadmon added, “Our reservoirs saved Israel’s agriculture. There is no doubt about that. I can definitely say that without these reservoirs, we could have found ourselves in a situation where we would have had less than a 24-hour supply of water in our homes.”
