A Palestinian Authority Arab demonstrator was seriously wounded on Friday afternoon in clashes with security forces in the village of Nabi Saleh in southern Samaria (Shomron).

Nabi Saleh, is a regular hotspot where Arabs, radical leftists and anarchists engage the IDF and Border Police in clashes every Friday, for the purpose of disseminating propaganda footage to the world. Much violence occurs there regularly and is initiated by the demonstrators, who injure soldiers who attempt to use non-violent means such as water and tear gas to disperse them.

One leftist activist, Jonathan Pollack, blamed the police and the military for Friday’s incident in a conversation with Channel 2 News.

“What happened was that a Border Police officer who was in a jeep fired a tear-gas canister directly at a demonstrator named Mustafa Tamimi, who lives in Nabi Saleh. He was hit directly in the eye. His injury is very serious and he probably lost his eye.”

Pollack said the Arab was taken to the Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikva to receive treatment. Ignoring the fact that the protests are used by demonstrators for incitement purposes, he added that “there was nothing special done [by protesters] to justify this shooting.”

In response, the IDF told Channel 2, “A violent and illegal riot took place in Nabi Saleh. It was attended by about 100 Arabs who threw rocks at security forces. They responded with crowd dispersal means. We received a report about a severely wounded Arab and he received initial medical treatment from an IDF force that was in the area. He was then taken by the IDF for further medical treatment in an Israeli hospital. The incident is still under investigation.”
