The IDF Central Command raised its alert level in in Judea and Samaria ahead of next week's expected Palestinian Authority statehood bid at the United Nations.
The mobilization of troops, who are well versed in the operations in Judea and Samaria, was planned in advance as part of the IDF's preparations for the September bid.
Within the framework of these preparations the IDF has additional troops stationed on standby, and additional reserves were also being prepared for the possibility that the IDF would be forced to mobilize them in a state of emergency.
The forces being deployed in Judea and Samaria have been given a large supply of crowd dispersal equipment, but no such means were transferred to the Palestinian Authority.
Military commanders believe fatalities that result from Arab protests would ignite mass violence in PA and Hamas controlled enclaves and could threaten nearby Jewish communities.
The IDF said the preparations are not just for September, but for any events that could unfold in the coming months.
