Yassam special police forces, accompanying Civil Land Administrators inspectors at the Jewish community of Talmon in Samaria, arrested six residents for blocking the inspectors from entering the community to enforce the government's building freeze in Judea and Samaria.

A spokesman for the Judea and Samaria District police said that four of the six protesters who were detained for questioning were youths. He said that protesters punctured a tire on one of the police vehicles during the operation, and several police officers were attacked.

Binyamin settlers reported that police violently beat many of those who were involved in trying to block them. They added that the government forces also prevented a woman from being treated for an asthma attack.

By noon, the inspectors were touring the community with a police escort.

In Jerusalem, police clashed with 200 Arabs who marched without a permit and in support of the Palestinian Authority's efforts that the United Nations declare eastern Jerusalem as the capital of a PA state. At least nine Arabs were arrested after refusing to disperse.
