AddReply(517493,"MIS INFORMATION","Pam","Los Angeles","11/16/09","Unfortunately, reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY) is not a regulated modality.Reiki was not  \"discovered \" by anyone. Rei does not mean g-ds energy it means life force energy and that\'s not inconsistent with how we Jew\'s know Hashem, the energy of our soul, the light of Hashem the unspoken name of the one true G-d. We know now from quantum physics what Judaism has always known, that the one true G-d, Hashem, is energy, not a being. In Japanese - Ki means energy. Reiki, by the way, was a fabricated term that Dr. Usui of Japan coined to put some human way of communicating this  \"energy \" that he tapped into.  Dr. Usui studied theology at the University of Chicago and all over the world. While he was not Jewish, his experience of the  \"the energy \" was not any religion at all. The one true G-d\'s energy can be felt by non-Jew\'s as well, no? Perhaps he was a gere? A stranger? Who knows, but I don\'t fully understand why Reiki would not be kosher. To me it comes from Hashem. I have always been blessed with healing abilities, which I was aware of as a child. Reiki simply put a system to it for me. I am serious about talking with some Rabbinic authority to bring some of the true information about Reiki to the forefront. If I became convinced it were not kosher, I too would give it up, but all rulings I have found so far, were based on incorrect information. The gentleman here was led to the east by an egocentric teacher who with her  \"lost soul \" abused the teacher-student relationship. Reiki has nothing at all to do with any religion at all. Reiki is a way of speaking about the healing energy that comes from Hashem and available to anyone willing to connect to him. It\'s too bad that there is so much misinformation out there. Many ego\'s have put their own spin on reiki and so one has to be mindful of where the information is coming from. THis man  \"followed \" his teachers advice to travel east and learn buddism...no self respecting reiki master would attach this to learning reiki or reiki mastry. ");

He apparently was removed rather dramatically and by divine intervention from the Buddhist idolatrous practices of Reiki. Why then is he intent now on attempting to substitute or come up with a Jewish equivalent of an idolatrous practice?  Is Judaism allowed to emulate idolatry, or in fact does G-d frown on such?  Was not an alliance with idolatrous practices, attempting to create a symbiotic form where apparently G-d is worshiped, yet pagan rituals in G-d\'s name were practiced, the very sin G-d judged the religious leaders and priests mentioned in the Book of Jeremiah?  In fact did not this attempted symbiosis with idolatry while at the same time apparently serving \nG-d bring about the wrath of G-d against Israel and Judah, sending them into captivity and exile?  \n\nIt is imperative religious leaders do not fall into such a trap! even if the intent is to help folk who need healing etc.  HaShem desires total turning away from idolatrous practices.  No substitution of Hebrew religious words or ritual will somehow  \"move the hand of G-d \"  or place Him in a position where he must hear or answer our requests, no matter how important. Therefore, I caution the Rav, and ask him to consider what he actually is attempting to accomplish in patterning any practice after idolatry! \n\nIdolatrous roots must be shunned!  G-d desires personal relationship and unadulterated worship rooted within tshuva and obedience to His Scripturally revealed will.  Buddhist practices may appear benign, or even helpful, but G-d did not place these idolatries in Scripture!  Reike then, even a  \"Jewish \" reike, is wrong!\nG-d does not share His glory with another!");

AddReply(496900,"Peace","yvonne","cary","09/24/09","The element of buddhism is brought up in this blog by Tamar. A quarter century or so ago, I encountered all sorts of out of the ordinary events, spiritual, health issues, loss, oppression, and nothing I did would change that course of events. I could not do it on my own. I went to Barnes & Noble to the religion isle and browsed through several books. More than once too. Part of the events I went through were *paraanormal*. Of course, first I had myself tested. Nothing wrong with me. Then I was convinced that there was a logical explanation, but whatever thread I pulled - nothing. I found a tiny thin book by Thich Nhat Hahn: Peace is every step. It is very simple, almost too simple, but to understand from whence he comes to that point one must first have gone through suffering. Thich Nhat Hahn knows that suffering. Peace is every step is a prescription for Peace. It is also a way to Peace. More than that it is a manifest of coping with adversity and suffering. G-d spoke to the jews. But G-d is universal and created All that is in this earth and on this earth. Teaching may come from unsuspected sources. We say Shema. To understand why we say it and why it is necessary to say it is important. Peace is every step is a prescription of going through life. The Shema is another such prespcription, be it a shorter one. We should see, hear and learn. Speaking and sound may be jusst noise. And noise is more likely than not *interference*, like those beeping, scratchy sounds wen the cell phone is not working properly and we first lose the sound, then the connection, and finally are cut off.");
AddReply(495357,"so, what happened with Yitchak?","yvonne","cary","09/22/09","What happened with many of the heroes of the jewish saga? There is a period where the world changes, through circumstances one selects, through illness, through isolation, danger, etc. It may also happen through deep meditation. And jewish meditation is kosher, Aryeh Kaplan is one example, but not without dangers. Same applies to doing kabbalah. Or, it can come as a result of other types of very deep and long thinking, as in problemsolving. There is a sudden change and breakthrough, and the limits of the earthbound body appear to fall away. Is that really the case? Difficult to say. One thing flows into another. There is a guideline, though, the conclusions, thoughts, breakthroughs must be in line with the teaching and the boundaries put upon us. Anything out of the boundaries of the law, kindness, charity, sanity, etc. is wrong and must be rejected. In this time we should be well aware of it. People are putting out predictions with certainty. But predictions, based even on what is written, are not to be made, nor judgement. Being aware is enough. Yitchak was deeply affected by isolation, not being able to speak, etc. and that is how he became aware of the scorpion. One may also become aware of subleties in other persons, for example, or a series of events, one would otherwise not pay any attention to, or, if perceived,  would shove aside as a figment of one\'s imagination. Notice and do not make, again, predictions, do not judge. Hear and see.");

So the Hindu sadhus & Buddhists are tapping into the evil principalities, powers, spiritual hosts of wickedness, for power.  \n\nWe read it in the book of Daniel, chapters 9 & 10, how even after fasting and praying by Daniel he had the to wait for the Archangel\'s message due to the hindrances by the evil forces in the lower 4th dimension. \n\nIt\'s a pity that many Jews, after their service in the IDF go to India - the west coast and north to find spiritual enlightenment.  Perhaps Rabbi Yitzchak\'s ministry should be to these IDF youth, so that they don\'t go astray searching for spirituality in wrong places.");
