AddReply(391136,"Pathology","Paul S.","Toronto, Canada","01/23/09","The man who quoted Rav Kook put it best:  Three kinds of Jews in the world, all having good intentions, the nationalist, the Torah-observant and the believer in tikkun-olam (repairing the world).  But if the tendency becomes corrupted and extremist, then the good intention becomes a sickness, a pathology.  Peace Now is a sickness.  Wearing Stalin\'s likeness on a T-shirt (as one man did) is a sickness.  I have read extensive biographies of Stalin written by noted scholars.  He was a megalomaniac, a paranoic and in the end a Jew-hater.  For a Jew to honour this man with the sporting of his image is more than idolatry, it is a sickness.  There can be extremist nationalism but that is not necessarily apparent in the Hebron \"settlers\" (I use the term with some reservation as it has unpleasant connotations, I do not necessarily subscribe to those connotations here by use of the term).  Hebron settlers are not there to conquer the land or to displace the Arabs by force or by trickery.  All they want is to live their lives.  Here in Canada real estate transactions are carefully monitored by the courts and the legal system.  Little goes wrong here.  I would love to see a real estate market in Israel that works in a civilized manner.  If someone puts a property on the market, the first person to meet the price gets the property.  In case of a dispute, the litigants can go to court and the court settles it.  The winner gets the property and the loser accepts the ruling and goes his own way.  I guess in the Middle East that is a lot to ask for.");

And that\'s a rare quality for a TV programme.\nAnd I disagree with Vienna Mike- we should hug them. No matter how much nonsense they spew.");

I remember something about a mizvah to stop the rodef.  I also remember a mizvah to hate the heretic and something about hatred for the heretic being part of Ahavat Yisrael.  Hmmm....\n\nPerhaps the Jews of Hebron need to study Torah?  Or perhaps they know the Torah quite well, but refuse to carry out those mizvot they find to be inconvenient?  Hmmm.... ");
