Esau’s son Eliphaz, whose concubine Timna bore Amalek (Genesis 36:12).  Amalek probably may not be the ancestor of the Amalekites mentioned in the time of Abraham (Genesis 14:7).\n\nThe Amalekites were the first to oppose Israel (Exodus 17:8).  The kings of Israel from Saul onwards had to deal with the Amalekites.  Saul was told by Samuel to attack Amalek & utterly destroy them.  Instead, Saul spared Agag, the king of the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:2, 3, 9).\n\nEven though the remnants of the Amalekites were completely destroyed during the reign of Hezekiah, king of Judah (1 Chronicles 4:41-43), yet a descendant of Agag, who was spared by Saul appeared as Haman the Agagite.
