AddReply(371075,"Feiglin in Toronto","Paul S.","Toronto, Canada","12/13/08","Moshe Feiglin spoke at a Toronto synagogue a few months ago and I was there.  Later I had the rare opportunity to meet him.  I found him to be an able speaker and he had a strong grasp on reality, a refreshing change from the leftist spin we get in our media here.  Is he prime ministerial material?  Perhaps, but perhaps not.  At the very least though, he is an antidote to the self-loathing most Jews have about themselves and their ethnic identity.  While I\'m here, I want to say that delving deeper into faith matters and into halachic ritualizations that serve only to isolate oneself from the outside world may keep assimilation away but that is not ethnic pride.  Here in Toronto, the most ethnically diverse city in the world (according to our mayor), ethnic communities show their pride outwardly.  They speak their languages out in the open, in loud voices if necessary, they eat their own culture\'s food and dress in their own fashion and don\'t care who sees or hears.  Most of all, they want to share their cultures with anyone who gives them a fair shake.  Our people may dress the part, but we speak Yiddish and Hebrew in quiet tones, and eat our kosher food surreptitiously and certainly do not make much of an effort to share ourselves with outsiders (what if the goyim don\'t like it?).  This is not pride, it is isolation.\nLastly, please everyone who contributes talkbacks, please try to keep the use of foreign terms to a minimum, and if you must use them, please provide a translation for those of us linguistically challenged.  Thank you.\nhalachic=living in accordance to strict interpretation of Jewish law.  Comes from halacha, \"the way\", a collective term for all Jewish observance both in synagogue and outside.\ngoyim=a collective term for all non-Jews in the world, though in practice it refers to Christian Europeans for the most part.  Comes from the biblical term \"goy\", often translated as \"nation\", thus \"goyim\"=the nations i.e. any nations other than our own.  Whether the term is pejorative or not is up to the individual speaker.");

Feiglin was one of the few sane voices calling for soldiers to DISOBEY orders of expulsion.   That is the farthest thing from worshipping the IDF.    It is the establishment and mamlachti so-called \"religious nationalist\" parties that do that.   Only, the establishment worships it as an Arab-coddling, Jew-beating army.  The mamlachti worships it as anything the establishment turns it into with their \'great wisdom\' and \'statemanship\' that mamlachtim defer to.   And by syllogism, they must as well worship it as an Arab-coddling, terrorist-protecting, Jew-beating army.");

If you think Feiglin \"destroyed\" Likud, then what you really mean to say is, he counteracted the leftist infiltration to Likud, which (under Bibi\'s leadership) changed it from historically a nationalist party to a do-nothing centrist/leftist establishment party similar to labor and kadima.   So it shows that you support the leftist infiltration and disagree with the actual values in the Likud platform, just like Bibi and all the other phonies.  It is Feiglin that upholds Likud principles.   If he\'s not Likud, no one is.");

He is not the kind of person you would like to run Israel, because he\'s too uneducated and narrow.\n\nI say, give Moshe Feiglin a seat in the Knesset.  Why is Netanyahu trying to prevent this?  Let Feiglin grow in experience, breath of knowledge and education.  \n\nMr. Netanyahu obviously feels threatened by a man of principle and conviction.  Netanyahu is trying to stifle Feiglin\'s growth.  \n\nBenjamin Netanyahu appears petty and small-minded in my opinion.  He is not looking out for the welfare of his people in my view..");

It seems to me however, more important is retaining Jewish land in the hands of the Jews; all of it or what is left of it post Ariel Sharon. \n\nFeiglin seems to be one of few leading this effort. However, he is abysmally uneducated about international affairs, has made idiotic comments about China and Japan, and worships the IDF.\nMaybe Hashem will give him the siyata dishmaya not to do anything trully moronic, but this is not the kind of person I would like running Israel, because he\'s too uneducated and narrow. I have seen no evidence he can operate vis-a-vis foreign diplomats, and plenty of evidence to the contrary.\nTherefore, I\'m not going to give up dreaming of Medinat Yehuda any time soon.");

AddReply(369415,"Boy, that was incoherent.","sk","USA","12/08/08","So, Bibi is just another \"Israeli\" -- a cog in the Bolshevik machine -- and therefore one should vote for Likud, whose one guaranteed MK (and PM, if successful) will be Bibi.\n\nVoting for Feiglin in primaries but some \"religious\" party in the election will just show that the Feiglin supporters are fakes when it really counts, and do not represent real electoral support.  That will mean even less support for the Feiglinites in the Likud.\n\nDavid sez:\n\n\"Their official entrance into formal leadership of the Jewish people will finally put an end to calls for the replacement of the State of Israel by an alternative “Medinat Yehuda.”\"\n\nThat\'s a good thing?  Anyway, this is not the purpose of Medinat Yehuda, at least according to Vienna Mike.  Medinat Yehuda is not supposed to REPLACE Medinat Israel, but to COMPLEMENT it by ruling the lands that Medinat Israel wants to give to Bnei Amalek (Muslims).\n\n\"They will be living proof that it is possible to utilize the existing framework of the State of Israel within the boundaries of Kedusha...\"\n\nYes, but how do we get from here to there?  If Feiglin got in as PM, the proof would exist, but Feiglin is not going to get in as PM.  Sorry.\n\nFINALLY--and here is something you guys just don\'t understand--Feiglin inherently threatens many Israeli citizens in a way that Medinat Yehuda would not.  You see, Feiglin supports religious coercion (where practical), and that sends his opponents into a frenzy.  If he would lead a Medinat Yehuda that consisted of Judea, Samaria, Gaza, he would simply give an alternative.  People could choose.  If the Left wanted to give away part of Jerusalem, it could be to Medinat Yehuda.  Who WOULDN\'T prefer that?\n\nYou see, taking over the Israeli state is inherently threatening in a way that creating a second state would not be.  Yes, there would be bloodshed, but there would be some bloodshed if Feiglin ever got near to his present goal.  And there will CERTAINLY be far more bloodshed if the Muslims gained control of this land for good.");
