Some among us will protest the \"created equal\" phrasing but scientists are finding we are all related, wherever on earth we may live. That conclusion is a common sense one many of us have long held without the need of being informed by a scientist. We are all brothers and should treat each other accordingly.\n\n	As race based biases decline here and the various segments of our population gradually find themselves equally distributed among the rungs of our economic ladder according to their individual virtues and gifts, the society as a whole should be elevated. This is not happening. The gains being made through the decline of race based biases are being over balanced by negatives in our political-special interest structures.\n\n	Over its history as an independent nation the United States had three major advances in respect to freedom; emancipation, universal suffrage and the end of laws and practices based on race. In almost every other respect our society has declined. Most of the decline has been in the past fifty years but the advocates of tyranny have been with us always.\n\n	Already, in the second administration under our present national constitution, when John Adams was president, rights we consider to be G-d given were attacked and people were jailed for criticizing members of government. Happily, Thomas Jefferson followed as president and the tyrants were thrown back.\n \n	When I was a child fifty years ago abortion was illegal, sodomy was illegal, most Americans practiced their faith, we had strong property rights and the rest of our Bill of Rights was somewhat intact.\n\n	Our decline since that time is severe and is the result of a broad-based decline in morality. As with any society it is our leadership that first set foot on the path to social and national decline. The pressure vessel constructed from the fundamentals of morality which held a multitude of excesses in check weakened as the quality of our political leadership waned. Harmful, licentious behavior began to be accepted and even protected under law.\n\n	Greed and the other lusts that harm us have always been with us but they were more effectively resisted in the past than they have been in recent decades.  In the late 1700s, as I recall, most, or all of the members of the assembly of the State of Virginia took bribes and provided land speculators with vast tracts of state land at far less than market prices.\n \n	The thieves in high places today are far more sophisticated than those of two-hundred years ago. Some of the modern corruption can only be detected by the use of logic because details concerning it are not provided to the public. I believe the money involved in corrupt activities carried on by the most powerful politicians of both our political parties and some of our managers of commerce and industry is so vast that our news outlets are now limited in what can be said concerning it.\n\n	An example is our recent high price of fuels. I am not an expert so I must find what information I can and apply to it the logic I posses.\n\n	The price of extracting a barrel of crude oil varies around the world from a low of under $2.00 to a probable high of almost $8.00 (in some West Texas fields which are almost depleted). Many of the companies that extract the oil refine, wholesale and retail it. For many years the markup from the cost of crude at the wellhead to the retail outlet was about $.85 per gallon. \n\n	One of the measures of legitimate profits, ergo pricing, I used was profits divided by size of the company in terms of the number of its employees. As I recall, in 2005 Exon-Mobil had profits per employee of about 52 times more than Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart profits have always been good. \n\n	In my opinion the price of fuels in this country could not have reached the excessive amount they did without collusion between the top managers of the companies which supply us. As that kind of collusion is illegal here the high prices could not have been maintained without the intervention of the chief politicians of both our political parties. Some power kept our federal prosecutors from acting. It had to be political. Only a very small part of the fuels consumed in this nation are traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange. \n\n	The present world financial crises probably had its beginning in this countries financial markets. Again, corruption is the prime mover, in my opinion. Our governmental regulating bodies - directed by our politicians - allow unfair, dishonest and immoral financial and business practices to occur that are increasingly complex and destructive.\n \n	From the news coverage I have seen, lender\'s agents made large numbers of loans to people who they knew would not be able to repay them. Apparently, the agents received a bonus for each loan, however inappropriate it may have been. Then banks bundled the bad loans with good ones, securitized them and rating companies gave them a grade of AAA as though they were low risk financial instruments. I have to wonder if, considering the size of the financial damage done in the world by dishonest American political and business practices, we have not become the most corrupt nation in history.\n \n	Some of our political-moral decline is caused by the illegitimate political-business symbiosis that has developed here and some is not. The United States Supreme Court may have damaged this nation even more than the political parties have. Their illicit decisions often serve business interests in violation of the rights of the people, but not always.\n\n	Our highest court laid the foundation for the State of South Dakota and CitiBank, as I recall, to destroy usury laws throughout the nation. Our federal congress had the power to limit interest rates to levels less than what we consider to be usury, but they did not. Those politicians, in fact, made things worse for many Americans in a recent revision of our bankruptcy law.\n \n	I am not a historian but from what I have read, today\'s Americans may be more severely victimized by usurers than any other people in world history. That is some of what our leadership is doing for us. \n \n	A couple years ago our Supreme Court members essentially took from us our property rights and a little more recently they nullified state sodomy laws. The state laws designed to protect our citizens from the diseases and moral decay the vile acts of the sodomites engender have not been uniformly enforced in many years, but now they do not exist at all.\n\n	At one time the United States was a nation of promise and hope. We built a government using the best principles of the English Common Law that were our heritage as colonists. Some of those rights were ancient when they were documented in Magna Charta. Slavery was our one great defilement and we paid a high price for embracing it. The U.S. Civil War cost more American lives than all the other wars we have been a participant in combined.\n  \n	Our social and political decline did not happen suddenly. Many years ago we made divorce easy and allowed it to appear respectable. Family is the highest unit of mankind and should be protected and nourished even ahead of nation. Divorce is the primary cause of poverty in this country but it is not the only one. \n	For many years inflation has risen faster than wages and where once a husband and father could earn a livelihood for his family, now the wife must work for a wage also. Little by little and in various ways monetary value has been removed from our families and provided to business interests. Millionaires and billionaires in this society gain their wealth mostly from the sweat of others.\n \n	Over time our entertainment industry became increasingly vile and our political leadership allowed that trend to continue. Their duty was to protect the public; they did not. Television here is a depraved teacher.\n \n	Our universities and colleges were increasingly populated with professors who had little moral foundation but much influence with students and politicians. Between the three, defiled politicians, entertainers and educational institutions, we have become a provider of filth to the world. There is some good here yet and I hope it will become the source of spiritual, social and political recovery.\n \n	Believe it or not, at one time most Americans had high values and practices in sexual morality as well as honesty and goodwill toward their neighbor. We must still be among the hardest working people on earth. Though most Americans have become less moral in sexual outlook and conduct our working class, more than eighty percent of us, are honest yet. But, I do not think we can survive our political and institutional leadership much longer. \n\n	As a new nation we had so much promise and potential to be good as well as great. But now it seems like the Democrat party tends toward Soviet style socialism and the Republican party toward National Socialism, which is fascism. Our first principles made us great, the ones being followed now are destroying us. The first were based upon morality, equity and freedom, the new ones on power only.\n \n	If we perish it will be because of corruption in all its forms, all the lusts of the flesh that have been allowed to flourish. All this is being done in the name of freedom but it is destroying our real freedoms.\n \n	Every society, as it prospers economically, is increasingly tempted toward accommodating various evils. The evils being argued for (their proponents never call them evil) are nothing less than the seeds of destruction.\n\n	Obviously, the Creator did not raise this nation to the heights of power and influence He did without a purpose. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney seemed to think torture was an answer to security. I believe otherwise. Unless we act to change our conduct, and thereby our national future, there can be no reasonable hope for the long term. I believe the change in American conduct that will immediately proceed our economic fall into something worse than third world status will be a turn against Israel. I hope it never happens but in America today, the citizen can be confident in nothing.\n \nJustin Ingalls");

AddReply(358628,"There are plots and subplots in this election.","Michelle","There are plots and subplots in this election.","11/06/08","Some individuals can choose to congratulate the American people for electing who they thought was best for the country, regardless of color.  \n\nHowever, those of us afflicted with deep cynicism choose to see other much darker subplots that are more intriguing and more telling of what has really transpired.  \n\nI think the American people were sold brilliantly marketed but defective and potentially hazardous merchandise.  \n\nAnd the name for this period in history could well be How Deception, Big Money, Media Manipulation and Intimidation Subverted Whatever Passed for Democracy in the United States of America.\n\nDeception didn’t start with the 2008 election, of course.  It’s always been with us.  One relatively recent instance occurred during the 9/11 aftermath, when instead of going after the financial backers and instigators of terror, Cheney and Bush used that tragedy plus fabricated intelligence in order to attack Iraq.  The Saudi royals living in Washington at the time were whisked away secretly and put on a plane headed for home, while the rubble of the Towers was still smoldering.\n\nUnfortunately, by the time Americans realized they had been lied to about the Iraq war, they were ripe for a charismatic personality like Obama, another deception.  \n\nThe reasons why they allowed themselves to be seduced are complex and too many to list on a talkback.  Just a few observations:\n\n-  Disappointed by the disastrous results of the Bush presidency, they agreed that they needed ‘Change’.  That word is charged with potential pitfalls, but they didn’t see it that way.  It just sounded nice.  Like a new wardrobe after suffering from a broken heart.\n\n-  White Americans needed to reassure themselves that they are free from prejudice.  What better way to do it than by electing a Black president.  (The media really played on this theme.)\n\nSo they voted for a Black man and they voted for change.  And the self-congratulatory talk will go on endlessly.\n\n-  It’s false that Obama’s election proved Americans are free of racism.  Black Americans elected Obama not because of his program, track record, or his leadership qualities.  They elected him BECAUSE of his color.  No matter how much they try to spin it, that is a fact.\n\n-  The pressure within the African-American community was alarmingly heavy handed.  During the primaries Black congressmen were bullied into breaking their loyalties to Clinton, and other Black leaders or celebrities were equally forced into the limelight to voice their support for Obama.   \n\nThis is deeply worrying.  It shows a type of racist pressure that would not be tolerated these days among white political leaders in America.  Not that blatant and not that intense.  It is plain racism and a true regression for the country.\n\n-  The media failure to do its most basic job, to be our eyes and ears, is an alarming factor in this election.  We know how biased the media everywhere can be, but this time they broke all bounds.  They censored themselves to the point where serious facts and issues were never mentioned, much less debated.  \n\nAmericans were sold a package but they were denied access to information as to its authenticity, quality, true content, and possible hazards.  This is the MAIN PLOT of the story:   How the public were duped and how the media played the biggest role in this fraud.  \n\n-  Furthermore, there was undemocratic and often illegal pressure on individuals within the media to conform to the pro-Obama agenda.  \n\nSome talk show hosts were threatened.  With the Obama network so well organized, they could instantly text-message hundreds of thousands of Obama supporters and then flood radio stations, TV channels or individual hosts with protest calls and other hostile and intimidating behavior.  \n\nEvery news outlet and every blog has been and continues to be monitored and responded to in an aggressive way.  \n\nExample:  http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=73715\n\nAnd there are others.  Just Google ‘Obama media’ and ‘Obama Media Intimidation’ and you’ll get plenty of references.\n\nWhile the media (with the honorable exception of a few heroic and half-strangled voices) turned into lapdogs of the Obama machine, who is going to monitor the new administration?  Will the new president and his friends use all their power now to muzzle or intimidate the remaining handful of independent media?\n\n-  And then there are the issues of money and the political system.  It’s not the best individual who gets to be a candidate for the presidency.  It’s the one who can raise the most money, make the most deals, and who manages to get the most votes in the Democratic or Republican primaries.  Independents are out of luck.  And if the platform does not meet with the approval of the political establishment, it\'s got no chance. \n\n-   And let’s not fool ourselves about Obama.  No matter how radical he may be, he will have to toe the line of the establishment, or else things could get rather scary for him.  \n\nHe can still do a lot of damage in subtle and not so subtle ways, but when it comes to economic and environmental policies and other issues that affect the elite, his hands are tied.\n\n-  So we could choose to discuss the feel-good picture of Americans electing their first Black president, or we can focus on the dangers lurking within this society.  \n\nIf the country is weak, divided, misinformed, duped by an irresponsible media, and intimidated by the potential violence of certain groups, then America is in big trouble, and we - their allies - are too.  \n\nAnd at the same time, there are too many threats to the well being of America right now, such as the results of economic and financial mismanagement; terror; wars; globalization; overconsumption and materialism; disregard for nature and the environment; and many others.  \n\nAll that put together is brewing the ‘perfect storm’ to bring down this beautiful country that should be a beacon for the world. \n\nBy the way, also within the big picture of national deception, let\'s not forget the Big Wall Street Robbery, where financial wizards robbed Americans of trillions of dollars without even pointing a toy gun at them - all under the ‘watchful eyes’ of both Republicans and Democrats.  And then got to rob again, and it was all legal!  \n\nBut that’s another subplot.\n");
