But there was a common thread running through all those cases that made it OK, one that was not the case by the Zealots who caused such troubles at the time of Churban Bayis Sheni, and is not present here.  I\'ll leave it to you to figure out what that is (hint: what is the most obvious similarities between Moshe and the Maccabees)?");

AddReply(356239,"Very disturbing issues","Michelle","Vancouver","10/31/08","What those “diseased souls” - as Mr Klein correctly calls them - are pursuing, is nothing less than a catastrophe for the people of Israel.  \n\nThe country can’t survive as a shrunken state, and even if it could survive militarily, it would collapse due to internal breakdown resulting from divisive policies.  \n\nI don’t have all the facts, and I’m just speculating.  Perhaps someone on the ground can correct me.  But here are two recent news items that caught my attention:\n\n1) “ A complaint has been filed with the Ethics Committee of the Israel Board of Psychologists against two psychologists for \"using their psychological and hypnotic skills\" to facilitate the Disengagement-expulsion.  \n\n“How were tens of thousands of IDF soldiers brought to the point where they marched en-masse and robotically with glassy eyes to throw out family after family of their countrymen from their homes, \'with sensitivity and determination\' [as the government boasted at the time]?”\n\n\nhttp://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/127689\n\nAnd here is the link to related report “The Mental Preparation for the Disengagement and its Aftermath in the IDF”:  \n\nhttp://www.mentalpreparation.org/documents/Eng/MentalPreparation_in_IDF_for_Disengagement_Abstract.pdf\n\nAnd the second news item:\n\n2)  Soldiers Were Tricked into Guarding Kiryat Arba Destruction\n\n“How did it happen that yeshiva students in the Givati Brigade took part in the military operation to destroy the Federman-Tor farm and homes three nights ago? Very simple: Senior security commanders lied to them and told them they were participating in a mission to help catch a terrorist.”\n\nhttp://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/128133\n\nThat goes to show that the IDF commanders - appointed because of their leftist sympathies - are VERY afraid of soldiers sympathizing with fellow Jews, so in order to subvert their power as moral individuals, they resort to either brainwashing them or lying to them.\n\nThis kind of psychological manipulation is an issue that has to be explored in more depth.  Actually, there needs to be a national discussion regarding the fact that soldiers continue to be used for immoral political purposes in Israel, at the expense of national security and social cohesion.  \n\nNow the government is trying a different tactic:  Divide and conquer by inciting the pioneers against the IDF.  \n\nThat’s why I agree with Mr Klein when he writes:\n\n“Some residents of the outposts and settlements stone and curse soldiers—not necessarily the soldiers who threw Jews out of their homes, just any soldiers. This is not to be condoned.  Any violence against another Jew is wrong and dumb.  But these violent fools, who little understand the gravity of what they do, are being used as pawns by unscrupulous politicians and soldiers who hope to profit by provoking them.”\n\nIt is painfully obvious that by antagonizing soldiers and police, pioneers are losing important potential allies.\n\nPioneers need to reach out to other Jews, be they in uniform or not, religious or not.  They must convey the message that their struggle is not only just, but it is to the benefit of the entire country, with their presence providing security for everyone inside the Green Line.  They absolutely need to win allies outside the settlements.\n\nAs far as the state of lawlessness in the actions of the IDF and police, I’m sure it happens with the tacit support of the government.\n\n“In effect, we have two extralegal vigilante militias conducting guerilla warfare against each other within and beyond the Green Line, except that one of them wears the state’s uniform….”\n\nThis comparison is rather unfair.  A few kids hurling rocks can’t be considered the equivalent of a well equipped army.  Guerrilla fighters they definitely are not.  \n\nBut the police and IDF are certainly behaving in illegal and immoral ways.\n\n“…political and military leaders, who appear now more in the character of warlords off on a private campaign for personal advantage…”\n\nNow, these are really astounding statements, and I appreciate the fact that someone has the courage to go as far as Mr Klein does in presenting them to the public.\n\nThe political and religious leaders of the settlements MUST educate their people about the evil deviousness of the government plan, which is using not only the IDF and police to set Jew against Jew, but is also permitting repeated harassment by “human rights” groups, who carry out acts aimed at setting Arab against Jew, making the situation even more explosive.  \n\nThis is a time for action, and I urge you, Mr Klein and readers, to explore ways in which Israelis could counteract this government\'s plans, and those of the next government, because I don’t have any hope that Mr Netanyahu is going to be any better.  He too appears motivated by political concerns above all, and may not stop at anything to solidify his grip on power once he gets it.  Some time ago he was quoted as saying that, compared to the large concessions Kadima had offered to the Arabs, he had only given away Hebron. Only Hebron!  Not much, as far as he is concerned. \n\nOne last point:  I believe that Jews have the right to defend themselves.  Not to go out and attack Jews and Arabs, but to defend themselves, their families, and their property - and as strongly as necessary.  \n\nAfter the horrors of Gush Katif and Amona, Jews lost their illusions.  The ideal that no Jew should hurt another Jew stopped being valid when there was an army of Jews along with non-Jews beating men, women and children, destroying property, and subjecting Jews to indignities.  That’s when hearts and lives were broken – and all rules of Jewish decency were broken too.  Yes, Jews have the right to defend themselves.\n");

They are aware of the fact that a house divided can not stand. However, those who seek peace at all cost appear not to be aware of the concentric forces alal working fotehter to both intensify force outside of Israel against Israel and from the inside out, and with the same purpose. Ultimately the result is the same. those who consider certain christians our friends might consider that even our friends can be working against us, and as tools. The *roadmap*, evangelization, and ME muslim interests all have one thing in common. In a way what you describe is much like Hizbullah started inside Lebanon. Ultimately it will take over and be against the State.");

What about Moshe Rabeinu, who ordered the massacre of 20,000 at the Golden Calf?  Was he \"dumb\"?\n\n\"To raise a hand against another Jew, even one in uniform, is evil. \"  So, not only were Yehudah Maccabee, Pinchas and Moshe Rabbeinu dumb, but they were also evil?  Wow!  Are you sure you read the same Torah I do, Mr. Klein?  It sure seems like your kippah has a distinct Jews for Jesus cross on it!\n\nIn reality, those who throw rocks and spit at israeli kapos are the creme de la creme of the Jewish People.  They are holy men who, with every thrown rock, gain a share in the World to Come greater than any gained by the likes of Klein.  They should be applauded and supported.\n\nThe wonderful news coming out of Yosh is going to continue to improve every day.  Israeli oppression will continue to bring escalating resistance.  Soon, the guerilla warfare whereof Klein writes in jest will be a bloody reality.  Soon enough, the banner of Medinat Yehudah will be raised.  There is already a growing awareness among the youth of Yosh that Medinat Israel is a foreign country.  They just need to articulate this awareness.\n\nBizrat Hashem, we will soon see the \"dissolution of Israeli society\".  Partition is coming, whether the likes of Klein like it or not.  As far as Vienna Mike is concerned, partition cannot come soon enough.");
