I admire your paying off every cost in spite of being robbed.  You are correct that there are some terible situations out there, but I cannot blanket condem them all as I also know of Very many good ones.  \nI will refrain from e-mail as I really get hollered at now by friends I neglect and then waste valuble time on the internet.  If you notice, I have been absent from these sites for longer & longer periods.  The lack of relationship to reality of living, is getting too much for me.  \nI wish you good health and when I am on, I probably will offend you some more.  But I try to be an equal oppertunity offender to anyone.");
AddReply(343754,"Agree with sk, # 6","yvonne","cary","09/16/08","This blog is superficial. Of course there is a lot to be said for one set of arguments, and then there are arguments to support something else. Everyone should be a responsible adult and be treated as such. A right to adequate housing is an elastic concept. On the other hand, it appears that capitalism is not providing enough housing, let alone adequate housing. And the article applies to the situation in Israel, but the arguments made appear to be universal. I live in the U.S. and am an American, but I am from Europe, and I like a mixed economy plus the chance to advance. In the U.S. if you have a chronic illness, or a birth (genetic a.o.) defect, health insurers will not take you, and thus you de facto can also not get employment, not even government employment in reality. That is costly. It is better to have some accomodation sothat people who can and want to work, and who are qualified can go to work, earn money, pay taxes, pay insurance premiums, etc, than to have them for life on welfare roles. It is all a matter of common sense, logic, and a little arithmetic. Telling people to make alyiah, and calling them names if they do not, other blog, combined with unavailable housing and lack of opportunity to advance, is uncharitable and unrealistic. Yes, I know, in 1947 jews came to Israel to settle. But there were opportunities then, and many were young, and just out of grad school. They were idealistic and full of hope.Hard work is not an issue. But if hard work gets you nowhere, something has got to change. Giving away the country and the store to the Palestinians has to stop as well. ");

I have metal inserts (hips), heart failure, and more. I was fully insured, cancelled when I had gallbladder surgery - insurer paid nothing, I paid cash (3 times, yes fraud of hospital and insurer) - was cancelled because of the surgery which they did NOT PAY one cent for. I am no hater. My husband (ex) is a doctor. I am not stupid.I worked and put him through Med School, internships (4 yrs) and residency. I am educated and degreed. Have European and American degrees and work experience. I hate no one, sweetheart. I said, I am NOT stupid. Hatred hurts the hater. But, hey, darling, let us talk! By the way, I had to wait a quarter century to get medical care (after age 65, Medicare). I am one of those people going broke because of Medical disasters. However, I did pay EVERY SINGLE PENNY during bankruptcy. Owe no one one cent!! Now gargle and spit out.");
AddReply(343551,"A typically superficial article.","sk","USA","09/16/08","Of course there\'s no right to adequate housing, and of course Muslims would benefit from this disproportionately, as would Tremblers.\n\nThere is, though, a right to advance by one\'s own efforts, and this is systematically stymied by the Israeli government.  There is no reason why capitalism could not provide means for adequate housing.  But this would require the government to allow more building, including more vertical building.  Further, population is far too concentrated in Israel.  Of course, this would be lessened if Jews could build elsewhere without the threat of being expelled.\n\nFinally, there is no \"right\" to live in Jerusalem, though it\'s already vastly larger than it was in antiquity.  But if people insist on living there, the prices will climb.  And if these prices climb, the government shouldn\'t subsidize those who could live elsewhere.  Rent control just leads to fewer vacancies, worse quality, and fewer overall units.\n\nNaturally, if the Moon Worshippers were evicted, that would free up lots of space.\n\nFinally, the passive but kvetching Israelis have allowed this ridiculous situation to develop.  And, when former settlerfolk like the GKers are kicked out of their homes, more than a few Israelis express relish because the GKers had nice places to live--because they did not mind moving to areas that were less concerntrated.");

AddReply(343397,"What!! Charity???!!!","yvonne","cary","09/15/08","Being a Light to the World?  Not this guy! Hell no! His G-d is money. Charity and kindness? Not in his book. Health Care is insurance and it is not provided for free to the leftists in countries which have universal healthcare. It is INSURANCE. Everyone pays in. This is also the case if one pays for private insurance. With one or two exceptions: With private Insurance in the U.S. you are cancelled when you must use it, you can henceforward not find a job, and can never get insurance again. THEN everyone does pay for your healthcare, via Medicaid. The privately insured patient pays for the person on Medicaid with state taxes and out of Medicare (which, by the way, you also pay for). The whole problem is that you are NOT WORKING with a disability or illness, because people like you would rather provide welfare than allowing a person the dignity of work and contribution. Why not work? Why dropping the patient? Simple: it costs the insurer rather than society.");

You would probably call me a far-right winger.  I\'m certainly no leftist,but all politics aside, something has to be done about the housing situation in this country.  I\'ve worked steadily since I arrived in this country over twelve years ago.  My salary not only puts me below the poverty level, but it has not increased one shekel in all that time.  Being well over 50 makes me ineligible to find a \"better-paying job\".  I have to be happy I have one at all.  Not only do I have no hope for buying my own home, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to continue to pay my rent even with several roommates.  While my salary is actually five shekels less an hour than what I started with in 1998, the price of everything else has more than doubled.  I work and I pay taxes and I\'ve been paying rent for over a decade. I don\'t own anything, not even a car.  I have a bed and a table and a plastic chair.  I have a right just like you do to be able to put a roof over my own head.  If market forces (i.e., the ever-expanding greed of the rich) are allowed to set the price of housing and rents, then what is to become of people like me?  Government has an obligation for the good of the entire community to see to it that insatiable greed does not rob the working poor of what should be considered basic needs.");
