AddReply(250187,"#30: Goldstein and Amir","Steve","Fla.","11/20/07","Can you document this with news articles (anything) that the Jews of Yesha condemn Goldstein and Amir at every opportunity?\n\nI do not disagree with your view, that should there be massive savagery, murder and rape perpetrated against the Jews in Israel -- the kind of which Bush and Olmert will bring on the Jews, should they be \"successful\" at Annapolis -- those who remain will have a different view and will educate our children to ensure that the likes of our Jewish \"ostriches\" never again arise among our people.\n\nWe do indeed have an ostrich problem. It is not only in Israel but here in America. Bush has the full support of the Republican party, Republican leaders, alternate conservative media both talk radio and Internet (Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, David Horowitz, Joseph Farah, Daniel Pipes, Michelle Malkin, Newt Gingrich, Robert Spencer, Robert Novak, Mort Zuckerman, Charles, Krauthammer, etc.) to dismantle and destroy Israel. \n\nMost American Jews and Jewish leaders fully support Bush\'s efforts to destroy Israel\'s security in the vain hope it will bring peace. We have many ostriches. Bush has tremendous support in Israel. Most folks on the right in Israel blame Condoleezza Rice, giving her evil boss a pass. \n\nWhat do you think of Mr. Bush? I\'m not sure you\'ve answered this question, have you?\n\nMy guess is, many in Yesha have not taken a definitive stand on Amir and Goldstein. It isn\'t because they do not believe the Muslims living in Israel are not our sworn enemies or that Yitzhak Rabin did not do unspeakable damage, even crimal harm to Israel; it may simply be that they are not certain these men acted according to divine command. \n\nPerhaps there is justification for killing a fellow Jew, even a Jewish leader in the example of Phinehas, Aaron\'s son.\n\nI\'m sure you read the reports of the soccer fans cheering Amir and booing Rabin a week or two back. \n\nDr. Goldstein is a martyr and a hero to many in the Hebron area and other communities in the territories. \nYou might be painting with a broad brush. Maybe not. \n\nDo you have any reports or studies that demonstrate the vast majority in Yesha condmen these two?\n\nIf Olmert should seek to dismantle whole Jewish communities in Yesha and the Jews act as the Jews in Gush Katif acted, I will concede your point. I supported Gush Katif financially. I believe they made some terrible mis-steps and wrong decisions. Had they in some way resisted and made it clear they would resist, thus embarrassing the government, Sharon might have relented. Perhaps not. For over 25 years I sprouted in Israel and only recently returned on a temporary basis to the U.S.A. due, in great part, to my 7 year-old daughter\'s difficult medical condition.\n\nI learned in a \"high yeshiva\" (yeshiva gvoha), served in Givati (the Israeli Marines) and completed law school in Israel. I also saw the worst that Israel has to offer as an ex-police captain and then a criminal lawyer.\n\nIsrael has serious problems. Its government is managed by frightened and blind politicians. Its Knesset has dozens of members that care only about their salary and benefits, and couldn\'t care less about their constituents. Its courts have judges who overall have great integrity and mean well, but unfortunately not many of these judges have ever read the writings of the Rambam or the Vilna Gaon.\n\nOn the other hand, Israel is home. Israel is us. The true Israel is founded in faith and Judaism and the unlimited love of Aharon HaCohen, and not - G-d forbid! - in hate and calls for war and violent revolution and the spilling of blood as voiced by Mike in Virginia.\n\nOur sages teach us that King Ahab was a wicked king who stood against everything that our beautiful Torah teaches us, but he was nonetheless successful against Israel\'s external enemies because at the time there was peace between brothers. In other words, Hashem overlooked his wickedness and did not punish Israel\'s army in the battlefield, because there was unity and brotherhood among the people of the nation.\n\nMike from Virginia: I have nothing to say to you, and it will not help anyway to have any type of discussion with you. You are not following Torah with your outrageous and disgusting rhetoric. You are not a Zionist merely because you express your willingness to come to Israel only when you can fight and kill those whom you see as following the wrong path. Not even Rav Kahane, with all his harsh words against the \"mityavnim\" among us, ever proposed outright revolution, the taking up of arms and - G-d forbid! - killing other Jews because of Gush Katif or Shabbat or the excavation of bones or whatever other burning issue we might hold dear to our heart.\n\nIn sum, Israel needs help. It needs more Torah Jews. It needs more Zionist Jews. It needs more menschen and polite people. It does not need the bloody philosophy of Mike from Virginia. It does not need more darkness, but rather more light. And Jews from all over the world who can be a beacon of light - both to fellow Jews and to the People of the Nations - will never be sorry if they take Tamar\'s advice and return to Israel, the Holy Land, the Land of Our Forefathers, and the Land (despite its problems) That I Love. Maybe that is why the \"righteous\" Jews who are \"physically\" living in Israel today, will be protected..because more will see \"why\" their brothers and sisters chose to leave the west and move to Israel. Right now and sadly enough, we know that...not all of the Jews who are \"physically\" in the land, are really HOME. So, it seems to me, that we should be praying for \"all\" those lost ones (whether near or far) and (known or unknown via the \"missing tribes\")..to come HOME soon..and we should respect and thank the \"righteous\" Jews already living in the land for giving us even more \"reason\" to do this and all that we can. Because, If Hashem does not protect his rightoues already living in the land, then we are \"all\" without any hope. We should at least be honest about that. This is not some \"competition\"..it\'s just the way it is..so we should respect/love the \"messengers\" even though the message can be harsh to us..I think that they are only trying to bring out the \"best\" in \"all\" of us. Furthermore, I think there are those types of Jews who are still in the exile for other complicated reasons, not just because they can have a nicer home in the west $$.
