I wonder how this adventourus jewish-phenician expedition manage to cross the Mediterranean, then the Atlantic, got to a port in North America; land somewhere in the Gulf or the East Coast; go inside the vast Northamerican inland; arrive to desertic New Mexico; leave navajo descendants and a strange carving in a rock, then go back to the sea; and return to the Middle East without leaving any other clue of their pass in what today is the modern US. If one thinks at the technology available at David\'s time, it seems a little exagerated unless you believe that they were taken to skies by angels who took them to another continent to make \"settlements\". If this arcahelogical remains are true and ancient enough (dificult), there is still a long way to find a plausible and mores simple explanation. To create such an enthusiastic story of jewish spreading around the World discovering new lands before the europeans did, sounds like fantasy created from some dubious, fragmented pieces of information disguised as science. It would have been much easier, sailing from the Mediterranean, to navigate around the cost of Africa than across the Atlantic. I do not suppose there was a ship leaving every Monday morning or anything but clearly there was a great deal of contact between the Americas and the ancient Middle East. Israelite coins, Sidonian coins, Carthaginian coins and later Judean coins have been found in many places, mostly along navigable rivers. The Las Lunas inscription is an exception, being very far from any navigable river, indicating that extensive exploration was probably undertaken. Gordon notes that the first Inca dynasty was named \"Piriu\" and dates from approximately the time of the construction of Solomon\'s Temple, c. 3000 years ago. Piriu, written in Hebrew, is an anagram of \"Ofir\" where the enormous amounts of gold for the Temple came from. It was also a 3 year voyage from Etzion Gever. Botanists assert that all legumes are native to the Americas but the Torah identifies the famous bowl of \"pottage\" that Esau sold his birthright for as lentil stew. The name \"Cicero\" means someone who deals in chick peas, either grows them or trades in them or however else deals in chick peas, \"chicha.\" And the Talmud, in a discussion of kitniot and whether they can be used to make matzah, mentions two specific legumes, sh\'u\'it, which is the white bean ubiquitous in the Middle East and phul, which are fava beans. \n \nJames Adair, a Scottish nobleman, emigrated to Tennessee in the mid-18th Century and became more or less the poet laureate of Tennessee. He was an educated man, who knew the classical languages. In those days, that included not only Greek and Latin but also Hebrew and Aramaic. He had extensive contact with the Indians, especially the Cherokee and the Chickasaw. I think he married a Cherokee woman but I am not sure I remember that correctly. He wrote a book detailing 21 reasons why he believed that the 5 \"civilized nations\" of Indians (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Chawktaw, Creek and Seminole), and especially the Cherokee, are descended from the Tribe of Judah specifically. It\'s very far from proof, of course, but not frivolous either. He was a serious man. \n \nAnd BTW, there was never a country named \"Phoenicia.\" Nor were there ever people who called themselves \"Phoenicians.\" That is what the Greeks called everyone who lived on the Eastern littoral of the Mediterranean, from whom they bought purple dye.
