Where you deviate, is the Federal govt. However, our constitution dictates their power, authority, etc. It\'s about the balance of power at the Fed level. No region ( Senate ) is more or less than any other region. In the House of Rep., districts are determined as you know by population. Israelis vote by ideology. Thus, giving (for ex). Eilat, the same power as Tel Aviv, is not smart or feasible. The answer: increase the requirements to participate in the Knesset substantially. Knock out most of the parties..perhaps to 2-4. The US model is better than France, Spain, Italy, etc. Try it, Israel you might like it. Direct vote for P.M, who picks his cabinet  (as in the USA) subject to the Knessets approval. ");

My county, LA, has 10m people (the largest in the US). My guess, it\'s GDP is about 600b, maybe more. Israel has 7m people, and is one-half the size of San Bernardino County, CA. It\' GDP about 140b. My point: yes, we have gridlock with opposites in our legislature, 2 parties. Israel, for a miniscule country, needs to CHANGE it\'s govt system. Get a constitution Israel. Vote 2 parties (or 3), left, middle, right. Break up the country into districts...your P.M., should have more power..your Knesset, less. Deals? Okay, within each party..at times behind closed doors, at times transparent. Israelis govt is archaic..and dysfunction. (See current election morass). ");

Thus each candidate is answerable to his neighbours and elected members who do not fulfill their promises can be punished by being voted out of office. In works in Canada, Australia, the U.K. and functions much more smoothly than the Roman-inspired system used in the U.S.\nA member of Knesset elected in Efrat would have to serve Efrat. The one elected in Hebron would have to serve Hebron -- not the party, the people. What a refeshing change from the self-serving abomination that is the Israeli electoral system. Create representatives of tens, then five or ten \"tens reps\" choose a rep for their fifty and hundred constituents.  Then ten \"hundred reps\" choose a rep for their thousand constituents. This is why American\'s republic is much more stable and representative of the people\'s will (though from the time of the civil war, this has continuously been eroded).\nThis is the system of government as prescribed in the Torah, eventually leading to one rep (the king) whose chosen from amongst his brethren, and accountable to them.\n");
