The fact is that for many years there was a dearth of potential settlers.  Today the problem is more a reluctance on the part of the government to approve construction over the green line.");

AddReply(365366,"Joel, there\'s something you haven\'t mentioned","","Samaria","11/26/08","You didn\'t mention that the largest settlements are those closest to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The more out-lying settlements do not grow as quickly because of logistics. They are farther away from centers of employment and just about everything else other than hills.  Please correct me if this isn\'t correct: most if not all of the now large settlements, some of which are true cities, had absorption committees when they were small. The larger settlements can handle diversity that he smaller ones can\'t.\nImprovement of the economy in the urban centers is not the only consideration for the survival of Judea and Samaria. We must encourage the growth of the small out-lying settlement so that they will be harder to destroy. Would the settlements in northern Samaria have been destroyed if they were the size of Ma\'alei Adumim or Ariel?");

AddReply(365275,"the vaad klitahs are not the problem","Y","Nitzan","11/26/08","It\'s not the vaad klitahs that restrict growth in the religious zionist towns of Yesh - it\'s the government of Israel.  You\'re blaming the victim.  The religous-zionist towns are generally outside the settlement \"blocks\" and far from the green line - thus they\'re in line to be destroyed under the roadmap plan inorder to give the arabs a geographically contiguous state (G-d forbid).  All buiding permits in Yesh must be approved by the defense ministry - free market economy isn\'t the only determinent of Jewish growth.");
