Any of the whims of the French and the Brits are doomed to failure as they ignore this reality. For those with short memories, the entire area was a borderless wilderness with serfs and a few local thugs as recently as 1914. The Arab world today is not much different, just the thugs are bigger and more centralized. Lebanon was doomed from the start as a comical Cristian entity in the wrong neigborhood. There will be peace here, when the Arab hordes return to the southern part of the peninsula from where they came.");
