Second, I never advocated the Israelis taking up arms against their own government. I would appreciate it if people would stop generalizing, and lump all \'muslims\' together. Furthermore, I would appreciate it if you wouldn\'t put words into my mouth, as it were. And yes, both sides are responsible. You cannot unliaterally declare independence for a state on land which was widely considered ARAB land at the time, and expect the Arabs to go along. If the Kurds unliaterally declared independence, they would have a war on 4 fronts!");

That might be the arab way, but we Israelis pefer the ballot not the bullet.\nOlmert will have to leave office; but he will be voted out (the sooner - the better!).\nIt is NOT both sides that are responsible for the conflict. In 1948, 1967 and 1973 and many times since, Israel has been prepared to make peace - but the arabs only want a piece - the whole piece - so that Israel disappears.\nAs long as you keep aiming to kill us all, you will have to suffer the consequences. \nJust so you get the message \"If the arabs stop shooting there will be no more fighting; if the Israelis stop shooting there will be no more Israel\". AddReply(270529,"What\'s behind Olmert\'s blockade of Gaza","Michelle","Vancouver","01/24/08","Israel has been at war with the Arabs for many decades now, and we know what works and what does not work when it comes to defending Israeli citizens.\n\nThe leftist elite that rules the state of Israel knows that a partial or complete blockade of Gaza will only result in another great PR coup for the Arabs and no end to their aggression.  \n\nThere\'s no way that you can attempt to blockade a group of people like the Gazans and pressure them into submission.  They know they have the whole world on their side.  \n\nOlmert\'s government knows that the whole exercise will backfire on Israel.  It happens every time.  Yet he did it.  Why?\n\nFrom my perch here close to the American border I have access to both Canadian and American radio and TV, and I can tell you that without exception they are all painting the Gazans as starving, living in the dark, and suffering all kinds of indignities due to collective sanctions imposed by the Israeli oppressor.  \n\nI can no longer count the times I\'ve heard Gaza described as a prison.  \n\nAnd - very importantly - there\'s never any mention of the money that flows into Gaza, the corruption, the tunnels for smuggling weapons, the internal violence.  \n\nAs far as Sderot\'s situation is concerned, it is mentioned in passing, very, very briefly,  and in rather superficial terms.  \n\nSo what I can\'t help but wonder is whether this blockade was planned with the ultimate purpose of demonizing Israel at a crucial time when the nationalists will need the support of US Congressmen and other leaders in order to stop Bush\'s roadmap to ethnic cleansing and a shrunk and divided Israel.  \n\nHow can anyone now appeal to American compassion and understanding when Israel is being painted as a cruel and oppressive power versus the always victimized Palestinians?\n\nI do not feel that Olmert\'s actions can be attributed to a possible lack of understanding of the situation, or to his callousness.  There is a lot MORE to it.  \n\nEvery step taken by Olmert and the Supreme Court fits into the general picture of the left\'s final goal for the country:  a disempowered, shrunk Israel, with a dispirited religious nationalist population reduced to the condition of refugees in their own country. \n\nSo although most thinking people realize that the only way to stop Arab terror from Gaza is to undo the disengagement, take control of it, and repopulate it with Jews, that won\'t happen because the government\'s goal is not to stop terror but to create the pre-conditions leading to the creation of a terror state that includes Gaza.\n\nAnd if the IDF is sent to Gaza, it will be to defeat or weaken Hamas long enough to be able to unite Gaza to the rest of the PA under the good terrorist Abbas, along with their planned land corridor and Jerusalem.  \n\nI\'m not saying that everyone in favor of a blockade is part of a conspiracy to create bad PR for Israel, but that there are some devious minds that are using the blockade for those ends.\n\nThe left, whose dream is the rape of Israel, is now engaged in Israel\'s character assassination by means of this ill-thought Gaza blockade.    \n");
