There were no more Jews to make fun of, but the not-Jewish people of Chelm gave then and now done their utmost to save what was possible, also the Synagoge was taken care of all the time. AddReply(228934,"All Is NOT What It Appears In The Holyland","Adina Kutnicki","US","08/31/07","I too am often offended by some of these \'giant\' Rabbis\'s pronouncements. What I would like to ask Rabbi Yosef and his supporters is this - where was he when the gov\'t destroyed Gush Katif et al? Why wasn\'t he and his supporters screaming to the heavens about Jewish self destruction, and the need to protect Jews within our homeland? Why is his SHAS still part of such an antizionist regime?\n\nFurther, the (un)holy mantra of \'democracy\' in Israel is absurd. While the authorities insist that it is their democracy which allows all these pro PA beasts entry into Israel, I remind everyone that there was NO such democracy offered when hundreds of thousands of Jews were stopped from legally demonstrating against Jewish self destruction.\n\nThese nationalist Jews (Orange Jews)were either thrown off busses, rounded up behind barbed wire, thrown into jail, bashed over the skulls etc etc.\n\n");

AddReply(228847,"Fallen soldiers & contextual error","D.Duarte","J-m","08/30/07","Mr. Kaplan, \nThe families of the fallen soldiers have suffered enough. Out-of-context \"quotations\" by the media notwithstanding, the  Israeli population is fully aware of one detail: the officer who leapt upon the grenade to save his soldiers was, in fact, a Jew who scrupulously kept the Torah commandments. The same is true regarding many other soldiers who were injured or died last summer. Their incredible stories of bravery are well known here. I\'m sure that you meant no harm to the memories of these holy individuals. Still, when you (mistakenly) ignore the manner in which these heroes lived and died -- as Orthodox Jews -- you deny their very essence and do a disservice to their bereaved families. \n\nMay we all be inscribed for a good year. Shana tova. ");

AddReply(228802,"Rav Ovadia is constantly misquoted","Hadassa DeYoung","Elon Moreh","08/30/07","The left-wing press enjoys taking two sentences out of a long speech of Rav Ovadia and giving them a different meaning from that which the Rav intended. The Rav later issued a statement further explaining his words, part of which were a direct quote from the Talmud, and also stated that he prays every day for the wellbeing of soldiers. A7 printed a news brief on this very item. Check the facts, Mr. Kaplan, before you besmirch a rav.");

AddReply(228750,"Those women are allowed in Israel because","Michelle T","Vancouver","08/30/07","the present government of Israel does not represent the interest of the Jewish people.  Deep in their dark little hearts, Olmert and the Left have a soft spot for the Arabs but none for their fellow Jews.  That is the sad truth.  There is no other explanation for their actions - so many of them -deeply injurious to Judaism and to the survival of the state of Israel. \n\nSo your outrage at these anti-Israel visitors is not shared by the Israeli Left.  On the contrary.  They have a lot in common and they work bu co-ordinating PR abroad and within, while Olmert and Peres unravel the country.");
