I had trouble following the spaghetti logic of the article, but your comment\'s description of the Jewish mothers\' devotion is chyrstal clear.  For the sake of the rest of the Jewish mothers whose parents were offered up on the alter of anti-semitism and whose children put their lives on the line to make sure that doesn\'t happen again, please consider contributing your own article to the \"OPINION\" column.\nThank you.");

Israel must learn ARAB math.");
AddReply(174053,"One Jewish Mother\'s Answer","anita stieglitz","Denver, Colorado","10/15/03","Mr. Ronen:\n\nNot all Jewish mothers are the same.  I\'ve just lived through 3 years of my son\'s service with Golani 51.  Much of the time, he was in that arm-pit of the universe, Jenin.\n\nNot once did I express anything but pride and gratitude that G-d had given a child of mine the opportunity to do what his great-grandparents could not do as they took their last horrifying breaths in a gas chamber in Auschwitz.  \n\nThere are many, many of us, Mr. Ronen.  We love our children as much as any Jewish mother, but we have brought up our children to love Israel and the G-d of Israel first and foremost.  \n\nFor my children, service to Israel is not a duty but a great honor.  Did I worry incessantly that my beautiful, brave young man would be hurt or G-d forbid, killed?  You bet I did ... and still do.  Did that worry cloud my spirit for one milisecond?  Absolutely not!\n\nThere are mothers and fathers who are raising their sons to be the true inheritors of our beloved King David: gentle in the face of G-d, strong as steel against the enemies of the children of Israel.\n\nWe don\'t waste our voices speaking to the fools in the media or to those other fools who purport to \"lead\" in our Knesset.  No.  We save our prayers for the only One who Hears them: the G-d in whose behalf our sons fight for what is ours by divine right!\n\n");

AddReply(174051,"You warm a mama\'s heart, Gil.","yvonne pennink","cary,nc","10/14/03","I like this article. A lot. And I am a mother and grandmother. Why? Because jewish matriarchy says that I am not a jew. It does not fool anyone. I had a jewish name, appearance and faith/identity from birth. But, did matriarchy not begin long before the diaspora? When exactly did it start, and why? Anyway, I believe that somewhere in Torah it is stated that in the seed of Abraham, not the egg of Sarah, all the world will be blessed. On the other hand, without the mamas where would the pappas, sons and brothers be? You can not blame prisoner exchange on the mamas. The mamas just want their children back, any which way, not necessarily through prisoner exchange. ");
