Interview with Izhar Shabi on a special prayer gathering and concert being held near the site of the kidnapping of the three Israeli youth by terrorists. Local musicians, friends and family will gather in Gavna in the Gush Etzion region for music and togetherness. Izhar Shabi also talks about his background as part of the new alternative Jewish music scene thriving in Israel. Izhar talks about his influences including his grandfather Rabbi Meir Maman, a student of the famous Sephardic hazzan Rabbi David Bouzaglo and his soon-to-be famous sister Reut Rivka, an up-and-coming opera star. He also talks about his background as guitarist who toured with the late, great Israeli singer Meir Ariel and his subsequent religious awakening.
Yehuda Leuchter talks about his role in the Gush Etzion vigil for the three kidnapped youth and explains the HaTzeaka, or cry-out-to-heaven gathering that takes on a quite different tone then normal prayer services. He also discusses his grandparent's origin in the Gush Etzion area and tells the tale of their kidnapping by Jordanian troops during the war of Independence in 1948.
