Israel resides in a tough neighborhood, where strength is respected, and kindness and compromise are looked at as 'weakness'. Will Israel ever find peace, or at the very least, be able to throw off the yoke of constant appeasing in order to woo back insincere peace partners? These questions, and more, answered on this show.
Tamar asks the following question that many westerners want to know: Will burying terrorists with pig-parts really be a deterrent for terrorism? I.Q. Al Rassooli
, a former Muslim, joins Tamar and answers.
Weekly guest, Shifra Hoffman
, asks how the Prime Minister can agree to release convicted terrorist murderers from prison, just so Israel can woo Mahmoud Abbas back to the peace table.... for more futile talks?
Also, why is Netanyahu making concessions yet again to go for peace talks with an entity that shows only scorn for Israel? Will he release yet more terrorists and slam another building freeze on Jerusalem and its surrounding areas? Veteran member and group leader in the Likud Central Committee, Gidon Ariel, engages Tamar in an animated discussion on these topics.
Plus, the Egyptians and the Syrians are still fighting among themselves. Inside Israel, Arabs are attacking Jewish civilians with vicious intent. What should Israel do? Or should it do nothing in order to not escalate things? Dr. Mordechai Kedar, is an Israeli scholar of Arabic and Islam, a lecturer at Bar-Ilan University and the director of the Center for the Study of the Middle East and Islam (under formation), Bar Ilan University, Israel. He specializes in Islamic ideology and movements, the political discourse of Arab countries, the Arabic mass media, and the Syrian domestic arena. According to wikipedia, he served for twenty-five years in the IDF Military Intelligence section. He joins Tamar and discusses the proper way to deal with the enemy, and how to finally bring some peace and quiet to the region. He also wrote a fascinating article on the current events plaguing the Middle East, which readers can find here: http://www.mordechaikedarinenglish.blogspot.co.il/.
Tamar Yonah is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor. Her father survived the Nazi brutalities and after liberation, made his way to the shores of the British Palestine Mandate, where again fighting for his survival, fought in Israel's war of Independence. This made a great impression on her life and she too has been fighting for Israel by serving in the Israeli army & air force, and afterwards by becoming an activist for Israel and the Jewish nation. She has been a vocal beacon of light since beginning a prolific career in radio. She hosts The Tamar Yonah Show - Israel's most popular English language radio talk show. She also writes a biting and sometimes humorous, award winning blog that discusses current events, religion and politics. www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/3#
