Rav Michael is back from a ten day visit to the U.S. and is he happy to be back! “I really felt the Galut (Diaspora), people were very nice and amazingly hospitable, but it just didn’t feel right there.” Reported Rav Michael.
He is referring to the out of place feeling a Jew should have being out of Israel. Many Jews will tell you that they feel right at home living in the Diaspora and would prefer us Aliyah “Evangelists” to leave them alone. I’m mean really folks, what’s not to like and why would anyone need to up root, learn another language and run around with a funny accent when they didn’t have to or even want to?
True…but…There does seem to be some kind of strange calling that comes with being a Jew. It’s there, but for some it’s harder to feel than others. Think of it as like one of those sleeper cells that you hear about in those spy movies. You never know when it will wake up; you may not even believe it actually exists, until… BOOM! You find you find yourself yearning to come Home…that’s when you know you have Aliyah Fever!
Listen to this week’s Aliyah Fever 1st anniversary show and hear for yourself what happened to Rav Michael on his flight back to Israel...
