Shoshana Sheiner grew up in the Catskill Mountains all year long. Raised in a very Jewish environment, she had little religious education. Still, she chose to go to Israel as a young adult, meeting interesting people, almost joining J4J, and learning to become a healer. In the European trek that followed, Shoshana got lost in Italy and met her husband. Returning to the US, Shoshana and Luciano married and started university studies in Florida.
It was on a trip to New York that Shoshana first met the holy rabbi, Reb Shlomo Carlebach. On a whim, she and her husband packed up everything and moved to San Francisco, hoping to become students of the rabbi at his famous House of Love and Prayer. It wasn't meant to be, as the good rabbi was away most of the time. But when the community announced that they would move to Israel to start an new settlement, Shoshana and family jumped on the bandwagon.
For eight years they lived in Jerusalem before finally taking the plunge and moving to Moshav Mevo Modiin. There, they opened an authentic Italian restaurant, Luciano's Pizza.
Today Luciano's offers excellent quality homemade pizza, homemade pastas and sauces, and other Italian delights, in an environment nurtured by the spirit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach, which includes a lot of spiritual music, and special Rosh Hodesh programs for women.
Sprinkled deliciously throughout the show are Shoshana's special "Reb Shlomo Stories," told to teach us a gentler, more loving way of life.
Tune in to hear from this great personality!
