Thousands listen to ‘Walter’s World’, because Walter brings context and understanding to the most complex of events.
This week’s programme is all about the dizzying week in Israeli internal and foreign politics.
The vote at the United Nations General Assembly to grant Non-Member State recognition to the Palestinian Authority is a regressive step and totally counter productive, if the aim was to further the peace process. In part two of this programme, Walter brings you a comprehensive report and analysis of the result, with excerpts from the speeches of Israel’s and of the USA’s Ambassadors to the UN, Ron Prossor and Susan Rice respectively, as well as the Israel government reaction from spokesman Mark Regev.
The programme begins with a detailed account and review of the party political manoeuvres in Israel, in preparation for January’s General Election, to achieve the most advantageous position in the political spectrum, taking account of the electorate’s inclination to the right. Both centre right and centre left parties are trying to attract prominent names to join them, hoping to gain the support of the undecided.
