It is said that history repeats itself and unfortunately that has been proved in Israel once again, because as on several previous occasions, just when it’s evident that the military objective can be reached and Hamas can be crushed, Israel succumbs to pressure from the USA; but you can bet your US bottom dollar, that if they were in our position, and theirterritory is bombarded by a neighbour, they would not hesitate to move where ever necessary, and with all their might crush the offender. It’s de ja vous and unless our government insists on acting like a sovereign State and once and for all does what other nations would, instead of trying to find favour in the eyes of the world, this cycle of attack and withdrawal and suffering unnecessary casualties in the process, will continue.
Here is my report from front line locations, obtained between sirens and running for shelter.
The programme visited Magen David Adom our medical emergency services and blood bank in Sderot and learned that they try hard to treat Arabs from Gaza and are even prepared to supply blood to wounded terrorists from there.
Also in the programme we hear from the people of the south and the professionals who service them, what it’s like to be exposed to attacks day and night.
Among the preparations prior to the forthcoming General Election in Israel is the formation of a new Israel friendly Arab party. Their plans are discussed in part two.
And last but not least, there is comedy to cheer you up.
Walter Bingham was born in, Germany. Just days before the outbreak of WWII, with the help of a Zionist youth movement he was selected for a place on the ‘Kindertransport’ to Great Britain. Walter saw front line action during the Normandy invasion of Europe and was awarded the Military Medal for ‘Bravery in the Field’. In England Walter also acted in films including several Harry Potter films. On the day of his Aliyah in August 2004 he transferred his programme ‘Walter’s World’ to Israel National Radio as a weekly Magazine programme and it has been running here regularly ever since. Walter is an accomplished public speaker and was a member of a visiting panel of lecturers at schools throughout the UK, where he spoke on events in the Third Reich. He has also spoken at schools in the USA and addressed audiences in Israel.
