Benji Lovitt grew up in Dallas, Texas. Involved in the Jewish youth group Young Judea from a young age, Benji was indoctrinated with a love for Israel and a positive feeling about being Jewish. When he told his parents he was making Aliyah, though, he felt like he was coming out of the closet, and he made his father cry. Six years later, his parents have come to terms with his crazy decision, especially when they see how happy he is. Though shy as a child, Benji has become a very popular stand-up comedian and humor writer.
They even love him in Burgas, where he was recently interviewed on Bulgarian TV.
Every year he publishes a list of the things he loves about Israel, matching the number of years Israel is celebrating. First on his list right now? Humus! Benji doesn't call himself a humus connoisseur, but he shares his favorite spots to eat the Israeli food.
Tune in to hear Benji's take on the El Al security guys, and his double love affair with Israel's two major cities: Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Check out Benji's website, too: www.benjilovitt.com and read his popular and funny blog, "What War Zone???"
