How does a Jewish family relate to each other to bring out the best in family life? INR welcomes family therapist, Leora Mandel, to it's line up of show hosts. Listen as she dishes out a show that will teach you all about marital relationships, child rearing, Jewish Holidays and home life, to turn your home into a paradise!
On today's show:
Marriage: a command given to man by G-d at the very beginning of time. What is the Torah view of marriage? We go back to the very first couple in history to gain a Torah perspective on what marriage is all about.
Marriage Skills: Thats right! Marriage takes work and most of us don't spend years studying in University to learn the skills that can help make our Marriage successful. Each week we will focus on a skill that will help you enhance your marriage. This week, we begin with effective talking skills: Clearly state what is on your mind (stop with the hinting!).
Parenting in a Nutshell: If only it were that easy. Yet there are parenting skills that can be learned to make it easier. For example: Focus on the behaviors you want more of, ignore what you don't like and set limits for behaviors that are intolerable.
Raising our Children for their Future: From the time our children are born, we need to be thinking about their future. We bless a newborn that they should grow to Torah, Chuppah (Marriage Canopy) and Good Deeds. That's right, from the time our children are born, we should already start to think about marrying them off! What does that mean? Listen to this segment for my take on the matter!
Happiness: We are commanded to serve G-d with joy. What if I don't feel like it? What if it doesn't come natural to me? Some people naturally have unpleasant body odors, that doesn't mean that they shouldn't do everything they can to present a more pleasant demeanor. So to with our mood, there are times when we are more naturally in a sour state, that doesn't mean we have a right to infringe that on others (let alone on ourselves)!
