      March 8th was International Women's Day. Is there a Jewish Women's Day? Purim begins this motzei Shabbat, and the hero of the story is a woman, Queen Esther. Her task was to save the Jewish people. So there is every reason to broadcast a special Jewish Women's Day program right before Purim. 

      In the first part of the program, get to know two extraordinary Jewish ladies, one Orthodox, one Secular, who rescued thousands of Jewish people during the Holocaust. Learn more about the life and accomplishmants of two "modern day Esthers " Gisi Fleischmann from Slovakia and Recha Sternbuch from Switzerland.

      In the second half of the program we will hear the story of Rebbetzin Malka Bina, famous Torah educator and founder of Matan. She will speak about her life, accomplishments and about Jewish women's spiritual leadership.







      Gabriella Licsko is a lecturer on Jewish history and society focusing on different religious communities. She leads tours of different neighborhoods in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as well as tours across the country. Gabriella holds a bachelor's degree in Culture Studies and a master's degree in Jewish Studies and made aliyah from Hungary in 2007. She hosts the Welcome to the Tribe podcast every Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Israel National Radio.
