Like its predecessor Kislev, the month of Tevet is centered around the theme of the Holy Temple. But while it began with the bright light of Chanukah, just a few days later it turns to anguish. Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman discuss three days in Tevet - the 8th, the 9th and the 10th - and shine a light on the cataclysmic events that transpired on these days, which left an indelible imprint on the Jewish people and the whole world: the translation of the holy Torah into Greek, the passing of Ezra and Nehemiah, and the siege against Jerusalem by Babylonian king Nevuchadnezzer. "What significance could these events, which happened so long ago, have for us today? " one might think. On the contrary, our hosts discover that nothing changes under the sun, and that we are still reeling from the consequences of the historical realities that were set into motion by these events. As ever, the Torah's message is contemporary, now and forever, and the only way to understand the reality of the plight of the Temple Mount today, our dearth of true Torah leadership, and the lack of true Torah understanding rampant in the world today, is in the light of these earth-shattering events.
This week from the Temple Institute:

Light to the Nations, with Rabbi Chaim Richman: The Holy Temple: Man-Made or Heaven-Sent, Part II
The mistaken notion that the Third Holy Temple will descend from heaven and be a temple of fire is one rooted in the diaspora, has no source in Torah, nor is ever alluded to by Rashi. To verify this truth one simply needs to visit the sources. http://universaltorah.com/
