Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov all embody an aspect of Adam HaRishon, Yaakov especially playing his part in rectifying Adam's mistake of eating from the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Yitzchak, the consummate keeper of the land of Israel, digs wells of water and blessing for all to share, but the jealous Plishtim of Gerar, (modern
day Gaza), refill the wells with dirt, one after the other, recalling the Palestinian destruction of the Gush Katif hothouses, after the ill-fated expulsion of the Jewish farmers.
