Out of the Sukkah and back into the house, Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman are already looking forward to the continuation of Sukkot… on Chanukah! What that’s all about? True, Chanukah is the next major event on the Jewish calendar, but did you know it’s connected in many ways to Sukkot? Find out why on this week’s edition of Temple Talk.

As we begin reading the Torah again this week with Parshat Bereshith, the first reading of the Torah, our hosts discuss the wonders, pleasures, and excitement of Torah study that increases in depth year after year. Parshat Bereshith is the very epitome of the mystery of creation, but at the very center of G-d’s creation lies the secret: the eventual establishment of the Holy Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, for the benefit of man. No wonder powerful forces seek to keep the people of Israel away from the Temple Mount! Yitchak and the Rabbi review the events of the week of Sukkot and bemoan the desecration of G-d’s honor that was caused when Jews were prevented from ascending the Mount in purity during the holiday because of Muslim violence and threats. What to do?

Also: Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, Rosh Chodesh Mar Cheshvan, and more!

This week's Temple Institute online Torah video teachings:

Weekly Torah Portion: Bereshith, with Rabbi Chaim Richman

Adam HaRishon – the first man: Who was he, and what is he to us? Even the angels were perplexed when G-d created man. Who was man and why did G-d create him? We are man, and G-d created us in order to seek out G-d through the medium of His created world. A new year awaits. Let’s get to work!

Light to the Nations, with Rabbi Chaim Richman

Where were these posts and how were the watches organized? Answers contained within! Online premier: Thursday, October 15.
