Rabbi Richman and Yitzchak Reuven examine the two episodes wherein Moses ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Tablets of the Law. Each time, he neither ate nor drank for 40 consecutive days and nights. How is such a thing possible? And what is the lesson for us today? Our hosts discover that Moses is so much more than just a leader to the Children of Israel... he is a parent who veritably gives birth to the entire nation.

But ultimately, our true father is Hashem Himself, and nothing can ever change that. In this week's Torah portion of Re'eh, we find the only verse in the entire Torah which states "You are children to Hashem, your G-d." But strangely, these words are associated with a warning not to desecrate our bodies over the death of a loved one. What is this all about? Tune in as Rabbi and Yitzchak explore the cycle of birth, life, and death, the continuum of parents and children, and the true nature of our relationship with G-d.

This week's video teachings from the Temple Institute: Parashat Hashavua - with Rabbi Chaim Richman: Re'eh.
G-d commands us not to be overwhelmed by our own mortality; not to diminished our physical selves in the realization of our own finiteness, but to find strength and comfort in His eternal embrace: You are children of the L-rd, your G-d. Bat Melech - with Rena Richman.
King David & Batsheva, Part II: King David, the slayer of Goliath, the champion of Israel, the man who laid the foundations of the Holy Temple, and the father of Moshiach, made the mistake of his life when he attempted to summarily dispatch Uriah, the husband of Batsheva. But it was this mistake when led him to become the master of repentance, and made him a figure that would span the millennia. http://universaltorah.com/programming/2009/08/11/king-david-and-batsheva-part-2.htm

Light to the Nations - with Rabbi Chaim Richman.
Rambam's Beit HaBechirah, Chapter 8: Guarding the Holy Temple, Part III: Twenty-four teams, (three priestly and twenty-one levitical), each comprised of ten sentries, were assigned to guard the Holy Temple. Specific guard posts were assigned and each squad leader assigned shifts. http://universaltorah.com/programming/category/temple-institute-light-to-the-nations/light-to-the-nations/
