A Seattle judge has ruled against a proposal that Seattle, Washington voters decide if the city's pension fund must sell investments in companies that deal with Israel. Judge Steven Gonzalez said the proposal to force the city's retirement board to make the move exceeds the scope of power of voters.
"The funds in question are pension funds, not city funds. They belong to workers who will need them to retire," he ruled. The Divest from War organization had gathered 18,000 signatures to put the measure on the November ballot.
