(IsraelNN.com) Israel Aircraft Industries' (IAI) Malat Division demonstrated its cutting-edge ‘Bird Eye 500’ civilian mini-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in Holland yesterday, according to a report in Globes.

The civilian UAV can be used for extinguishing fires, monitoring or disbursing mass gatherings, and as an unmanned response system in many emergencies.

A demonstration of the Bird Eye 500’s capabilities took place at Israel Aviation Industry's local distributor in Holland, and included detection and tracking of vehicles and individuals – a capability that Israel has been using in its effort to eliminate terrorists.

IAI also presented its new micro-UAV, called the Mosquito 1.5, as well as new models of the Bird Eye 100 (formerly ‘Birdy’) and Bird Eye 500 (formerly ‘Spy There’) mini-UAVs at the Eurosatory defense exhibition taking place in Paris.

IAI-Malat Division's micro and mini UAV family are a series of aircraft designed for tactical reconnaissance. The UAVs are operated by one or two soldiers in support of small fighting units and operate autonomously once launched. All models use digital map referencing and are fully automated with in-flight waypoint control.

Both the Mosquito 1.5 and Bird Eye 100 are easy-to-operate hand launched UAVs carried by one soldier and fully operable in minutes. The Bird Eye 500 is packed into two carriers and can be operated by two people. Both are electrically powered with a one-hour flight time.
