The IDF's anti-smuggling operation in southern Gaza this week was crowned with particular success yesterday with the discovery of an 800-meter (half-a-mile) long tunnel leading from Egypt into PA-controlled Rafiach. Seventeen meters deep, the tunnel was found with a wheeled cart, a ladder, and lighting equipment used in the aid of the arms-smuggling operation. Nine armed Arabs were killed, and over 15 anti-tank missiles were fired at the Israelis, during the two-day operation. Over 40 shorter tunnels were found in the course of the past year.
